Supplemental Declaration of Municipal Emergency
Executive Order 2020-030
May 29, 2020
WHEREAS, on March 9, 2020, the State of Rhode Island Governor, Gina M. Raimondo, issued Executive Order 20-02 declaring a state of emergency due to the outbreak of COVID-19; and
WHEREAS, on March 15, 2020, Mayor Roberto L. DaSilva, issued Executive Order 2020-004 declaring a state of municipal emergency due to the outbreak of COVID-19; and
WHEREAS, the East Providence City Council ratified the Declaration of Municipal Emergency at a meeting on March, 17, 2020 and authorized it's extension through July 8, 2020 on May 19, 2020; and
WHEREAS, The State of Rhode Island and the City of East Providence are now seeing stabilization in the number of COVID-19 positive cases; and
WHEREAS, the City of East Providence is committed to the responsible reopening of the city's economic wellbeing through the Governor's Reopening RI plan, which features phased initiative.
NOW THEREFORE, I, Mayor Roberto L. DaSilva, by virtue of the authority vested in me as the Mayor of the City of East Providence, pursuant to Rhode Island General Laws and the Home Rule Charter of the City of East Providence, do hereby order and direct the following:
The following Executive Order is hereby rescinded effective June 1, 2020:
- E.O.2020-009, prohibiting the operation of close-contact businesses.
- E.O.2020-026, concerning the reopening of non-critical businesses, outdoor dining, and
The following Executive Orders are hereby amended to as follows and shall take effect on June 1, 2020:
- E.O.2020-023, concerning the opening of public fields and walking paths, is hereby amended so that Section 2, Directive 2 stating "Not congregating in groups of five (5) or more" reads as "Not congregating in groups of fifteen or more".
This Order shall take effect on June 1, 2020 and remain in full force and effect unless rescinded or amended by a subsequent Order.
