Supplemental Declaration of Municipal Emergency
Executive Order 2020-041
September 9, 2020
WHEREAS, on March 9, 2020, the State of Rhode Island Governor, Gina M. Raimondo, issued Executive Order 20-02 declaring a state of emergency due to the outbreak of COVID-19; and
WHEREAS, on March 15, 2020, Mayor Roberto L. DaSilva, issued Executive Order 2020-004 declaring a state of municipal emergency due to the outbreak of COVID-19; and
WHEREAS, the East Providence City Council ratified the Declaration of Municipal Emergency at a meeting on March 17, 2020 and authorized it's extension through September 16, 2020; and
WHEREAS, The State of Rhode Island and the City of East Providence are now seeing a stabilization in the number of COVID-19 positive cases; and
WHEREAS, the City of East Providence is committed to the responsible reopening of the City's economic wellbeing through the Governor's Reopening RI plan, which features phased initiative; and
WHEREAS, certain Executive Orders issued previously are no longer necessary due to their regulation under the Governor's Reopening RI plan, and may be rescinded and/or modified.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mayor Roberto L. DaSilva, by virtue of the authority vested in me as the Mayor of the City of East Providence, pursuant to the Rhode Island General Laws and the Home Rule Charter of the City of East Providence, do hereby order and direct the following:
The following Executive Orders are hereby rescinded effective immediately:
- E.O.2020-030, concerning the opening of public fields and walking paths
- E.O.2020-034, concerning the regulation of amenities at public parks
The following Executive Order is hereby amended to read as follows and shall take effect immediately:
- E.O.2020-003, concerning the closure of all libraries and the Robert E. Rock Senior Center is hereby amended so that Section 1 Libraries, is rescinded in its entirety.
This Order shall take effect immediately and remain in full force and effect unless rescinded or amended by a subsequent Order.
