East Providence, RI (July 14, 2020) –PACE-RI, a non-profit health plan for medically complex seniors, announced it has purchased the property at 10 Tripps Lane in East Providence, RI. More than twice the size of PACE-RI’s current headquarters in Providence, the building will become the new center of operations for the state-wide organization, as well as its clinical hub for participants in the Providence-metro area.
Scheduled to open in June 2021, the 66,000 square foot building will include a new adult day center, state-of-the-art clinical facilities, expanded rehabilitation facilities, as well as participant and staff amenities. PACE plans to use the increased day center space to include specific “neighborhoods” for participants with similar needs, an art studio, music room with special programming for people with dementia, and room for recreation. The building will also have a commercial kitchen for PACE to provide meals tailored to its diverse participant population.
“PACE’s participant census has grown by 22% over the past two years and demand for our services keeps increasing,” said Joan Kwiatkowski, CEO. “This new building represents our organization’s commitment to meeting that demand, providing alternatives to a nursing home, and to changing what successful aging looks like.”
Facilities at the new headquarters will also feature updated administrative and operational offices. The single floor building will allow for easy transition between departments and streamlined communication between PACE’s various clinical and administrative teams. Situated in East Providence’s Riverside neighborhood, the property boasts a walking trail and ample parking for staff and visitors alike. Easily accessible from Route 114 (off RT 195), the location is less than 10 minutes (6 miles) from the current PACE-RI headquarters in Providence.
“We are very pleased to welcome PACE-RI to East Providence,” said Mayor Bob DaSilva. “They are part of a growing trend of major health care services companies choosing to invest in our city. We appreciate their efforts to keep our elderly residents healthy and well at home and look forward to further collaboration.”
With help from local partners such as Washington Trust and Vision 3 Architects, PACE will move 100 jobs to East Providence and invest over $4 million in the building. The property will have room for two tenants, allowing for a multiuse space and collaboration with local organizations. The property purchase was facilitated through Providence realtor Hayes and Sherry and law firm Hinckley Allen, LLP.
“The PACE model is one of the shining stars of geriatric healthcare. PACE programs are growing across the country and we are fortunate to have such a successful and longstanding one right here in our state,” concluded Kim Denny, Board Chair.
PACE-RI is conducting a capital campaign to support this project. Foundations, businesses, or individuals interested in sponsoring the effort can contact PACE-RI’s Chief of Marketing and Development Tom Boucher at tboucher@pace-ri.org for more information.
