EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – The city of East Providence is requesting proposals from development firms for the purchase and redevelopment of city-owned land on the corner of Fenner & Bullocks Point Avenues.
The site is that of the former Vamco jewelry company. The city purchased the property, located at the corner of Fenner and Bullocks Point Avenue, in 2007. The factory, which was in disrepair, was demolished and the city put the vacant property, which abuts the East Bay Bike Path, out to bid in 2016.
Now, in an effort to continue the revitalization of the area, East Providence is putting out the request for proposal to redevelop the Riverside Square site.
Mayor Bob DaSilva, together with the city’s Planning & Economic Development Director Bill Fazioli, plan to work with the community and the Council to find a great use for the site.
“We’ve always seen all parts of our city as a place to live, work, learn and play and this area is no different,” Mayor DaSilva said. “We envision that area of Riverside to be a destination area for our creative community, which would provide an area for live/work spaces, restaurants and galleries.”
The city looks forward to reviewing proposals that meet the expectations of its vision statement.
