Purchasing Division

Located on the first floor of City Hall in Room 103, the Purchasing Division contracts for purchases, stores, and distributes all supplies, materials, and equipment required by any office, department or agency of the city government.

In addition to any other powers and duties, the Purchasing Agent:

Acts to procure for the city the highest quality in supplies and contractual services at the least expense to the city;

Discourages uniform bidding and endeavors to obtain as full and open competition as possible on all purchases and sales;

Keeps informed of current developments in the field of purchasing, prices, market conditions and new products, and secures for the city the benefits of research done in the field of purchasing by other government jurisdictions, national technical societies, trade associations having national recognition, and by private businesses and organizations;

Exploits the possibilities of buying in bulk so as to take full advantage of quantity purchase discounts;

So as to procure for the City all State and Federal Tax exemptions to which it may be entitled.

The City Purchasing Agent is responsible for the disposal of surplus supplies, forfeited evidence and Miscellaneous and Confiscated Property. For buyers interested in buying confiscated property, please visit www.propertyroom.com.

The Purchasing Division consists of 2 full-time employees, the Purchasing Agent and the Purchasing Clerk. The Purchasing Agent reports directly to the Finance Director.
